The Washington Post called Steve Zikman "the man who wrote the book on wanderlust." Born and raised in Canada, Steve has ventured through more than 50 countries on six continents. In fact, this former attorney left behind a successful law practice in Toronto to fulfill his dream of setting out on a three-year, around-the-world journey.
Steve's travels have allowed him to trek the Himalayas, welcome the sunrise over the Amazonian jungle, scramble across erupting lava fields in Zaire, and meet with two of the most fascinating figures of our times--Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa.
Steve is a certified mediator and facilitator. He is the author of The Power of Travel: A Passport to Adventure, Discovery and Growth and Doing Good for Goodness' Sake, and co-author of the best-selling series titles Chicken Soup for the Traveler's Soul and Chicken Soup for the Nature Lover's Soul. Steve is a member of the American Society of Journalists & Authors (ASJA) and the Collage Artists of America.
Steve firmly believes in travel's enriching and transformative abilities. In his book, The Power of Travel, Steve writes:
"In the course of my numerous wanderings, I have seen how travel has informed and empowered my life, as well as that of my fellow travelers. Beyond its refreshing and revitalizing qualities, travel has the unmatched capacity to be a wellspring of self-discovery and personal growth, a path to ourselves."
By creating and leading The Next Fork's unique and compelling journeys, Steve shares his unbridled passion for travel and all that it has to offer. When not on the road, Steve can be found working in his studio or hiking the mountain trails near his home in California.
